An app can replace a treadmill remote only if the treadmill has Bluetooth, and no app works with every one. Treadmill Pro is free to download on iPhone, iPad and Android, scans for nearby Bluetooth treadmills and can start, pause, stop and set speed on the ones that speak its protocols. Of 504 models in our database, users marked 135 as working, 52 as not working, and 317 have no report yet.
Will your treadmill work? Three questions
1. Does it have Bluetooth? Some treadmills ship with an RF or infrared remote and no radio. A review of one Sperax pad (OutdoorGearLab, 18 March 2024) found an RF remote and no Bluetooth. A missing maker app does not settle it either: the Urevo SP1 Lite is listed without an app (ocdevel, 13 February 2026), yet a user marked it as working over Bluetooth. Only a scan tells.
2. Which protocol does it speak? The app supports several. These are the ones with remote-style commands in our code:
| Protocol | Typical use | Speed ceiling in the app | Incline |
|---|---|---|---|
| FTMS (Bluetooth standard) | Many mainstream and walking-pad models | 25 km/h | -6 to 40 |
| Gymax | Costway and similar | 12 km/h | 0 to 15 |
| WalkingPad | Kingsmith and Xiaomi-branded pads | 6 km/h | none |
FTMS is the Fitness Machine Service defined by the Bluetooth SIG, with commands for target speed, start and stop. Gymax and WalkingPad are maker-specific. The app also reads other protocols, such as Sperax, fitshow, CitySports and LifeSpan, but you don’t have to know yours: the app auto-detects, and you can pick one by hand in Settings.
3. Is it awake? Many treadmills drop Bluetooth after a few idle minutes. Power on and scan right away, and close the maker’s app first, because most treadmills accept one connection at a time.
Brands users have confirmed
From the app database, 19 October 2026. These are user marks, not lab tests.
- Marked as working in at least one model: Costway (Superfit), WalkingPad and Kingsmith, Xiaomi, Sperax, Urevo (SP1 Lite), Goplus, Yesoul, Horizon, Matrix Fitness, Mobvoi, NordicTrack, Sole, Reebok, Decathlon/Domyos, Merach, Philips, Pitpat, Woodway and others.
- Marked as not working in at least one model: Costway (SP37513SL), Superfit TBD, WalkingPad (A1 Pro, Xeed Fast), Redliro, PACEROCKER, iSmotion, Coyoomi, ProForm (City L6), Technogym and others.
- Same brand, both marks: Costway, WalkingPad, Pitpat, Sparnod, Sportstech, Vision Fitness and a few more. A brand name does not predict your model.

What it can’t do
- It can’t add Bluetooth to a treadmill that has none.
- It can’t promise that a model with no report works.
- It is not an emergency stop. Keep the safety key clipped on.
Test your own in five minutes
- Install Treadmill Pro (free).
- Switch the treadmill on, close the maker’s app, and open the scan.
- If your treadmill appears, tap it and try a start at low speed.
- Afterwards the app asks “Did the treadmill work correctly?”. Tap Yes, works fine or No, doesn’t work with a note. That mark appears on the model page for the next owner.
Not connecting? The app’s Connection help covers Bluetooth permission, Android 12+ Nearby devices, Android battery set to Unrestricted, and starting the belt at low speed from the console so the treadmill sends data.
