Superfit Treadmill Remote Lost? Try Your Phone

Superfit treadmill remote lost or not responding? Check the battery and pairing first, then see if your phone can take over. One Superfit model is confirmed.

Free · iPhone, iPad & Android

Start with the boring fixes: a dead remote battery and a lost pairing cause most “my Superfit remote stopped working” cases. If the remote is truly gone, one Costway Superfit model is marked as working with Treadmill Pro over Bluetooth, which is free to download on iPhone, iPad and Android. We have no confirmation that a Superfit will start without its original remote, so test before you count on it.

Step 1: rule out the cheap causes

  • Battery. Several Superfit retail listings say the remote takes a CR2032 coin cell. Open the back of your remote and read the cell, because listings differ by model.
  • Pairing. Listings (Overstock, Carrefour UAE) describe different pairing sequences for different units, so follow the manual that came with yours. We can’t give you a universal sequence.
  • Safety key. If the belt won’t start at all, check that the magnetic safety key is seated before blaming the remote.

These are from retail listings that we saw in search results but could not open in full, so treat them as hints, not as the manual.

Step 2: the maker’s own app

Costway sells Superfit and publishes Gymax, a free app. The App Store page lists it as “Gymax, Sports Health APP by Costway”, for iOS 12.0 or later, and says it records health data from Costway treadmills, ellipticals, bikes and scales. If your Superfit shipped with a note about Gymax, start there. We are not claiming Treadmill Pro does it better. See Superfit treadmill app for the comparison.

Step 3: Treadmill Pro as a backup

Treadmill Pro’s code includes the Gymax protocol, with start, pause, stop and speed commands, and a 12 km/h speed ceiling for it. In the app’s database (19 October 2026) Costway Superfit is marked as working (Gymax), Costway SP37513SL and Superfit TBD are marked as not working, and Costway SP37914US and Costway 2-in-1 Folding have no report yet. More on /devices.

Those marks come from users, not from lab tests. Your result may differ, and a model with no report is simply untested, not unsupported. Run the scan to find out.

What we can’t promise

  • Starting from cold. A forum thread on Dallas Makerspace describes a used Superfit without a remote that would not run and had an RF receiver on 433.92 MHz. One unit, one post. It shows that some units may expect their remote, and our code does not tell us whether yours is one of them.
  • Speed control on every Superfit. The retail listings we saw say the treadmill connects to Gymax; none says an app can set belt speed. In Treadmill Pro the speed command exists, but only your own test settles it.

Connect in four steps

  1. Close Gymax on every phone nearby. Most treadmills accept one Bluetooth connection at a time.
  2. Switch the treadmill on at the power switch. Bluetooth often goes to sleep after a few idle minutes, so scan right away.
  3. Open Treadmill Pro and allow Bluetooth. Android 12 and newer asks for Nearby devices; older Android needs Location.
  4. Connecting can take up to about 15 seconds; if it times out, the app retries once. You can also pick the Gymax protocol by hand in Settings.

Frequently asked questions

How do I reset a Superfit remote?

The sequences we found in retail listings differ by unit, so use your manual. If you no longer have it, search the exact model number printed on the treadmill.

Can I use my phone as a Superfit remote?

Possibly, if your model speaks Gymax and responds. One Costway Superfit is marked as working. Others are untested.

Will Treadmill Pro cost me anything?

It is free to download. Free workouts have a session time limit; Pro removes it.

Is it safe to run the belt from a phone?

Keep the safety key clipped on. A phone can lose signal or lock, and a phone is not an emergency stop.
